So far the violence hasn't spread to Melbourne, but rioters continue in Sydney and, to a lesser extent, in Perth and Adelaide. NSW Premier Iemma has dubbed the rioters ratbags (see this BBC article), but not clear whether the veneer of tolerance is just wearing thin in the summer heat, or more permanently. At least it's not burning, like a few other destinations we considered.
